It has been a tough year 2009. To beat the recession and close the largest deal for the company at the last 2 weeks of 2009 is totally a roller coastal experience for me… Enough for the side track ; )… now back to the topic of the day.

This has been the biggest question of all time. Actually the guaranteed way to make money online is not difficult but requires your HARDWORK.

Below I outlined the exact step by step “how to make money without using your own money”:

1. Go to Digital Point forum (http://forums.digitalpoint.com), register as a new member if you have not.

2. Once you log in as a member, goto the search.

3.  Follow my arrows in the picture below and click search:

By performing this search, you are able to find in the past 3 months, what are the most Want to Buy (WTB) items by the forum members. It can be a service or product.

4. On the result page, here comes the most important part, if you are already an experienced internet marketer, you can refer to the most viewed topic to brainstorm some ideas what to sell.

For example, in the screenshot below, you can see forum members are looking for some scripts. If you are a programmers, work toward this direction. Else, you can always post the job on elance.com or goto your local university to look for fresh IT students to help you to develop the script and then resell back to this forum.

5. For Newbie, I want you to do the other way round, under the same result page, click on the  “last”.

And, the results are you will see a lot of “job” here unanswered. For the start, you can consider to help to write articles at $3-$5 per article, you can help post comment, you can help posting some videos on Youtube as requested.

As long as you are hardworking, this is just one of the many things you can do to make few hundred to thousands on the internet.

Once you are comfortable with this and save up enough capital, then you can move on to other activity like PPC which requires money to make money.

Make a goal NOW and take the action to make money online. Don’t give any more excuses!

It is about a blogger complaining a spammer who has used some nasty techniques in order to rank high over the keyphrase “Nursing Board Exam Results”.

What the spammer is using, he built tons of backlinks from blogger.com

Here is one of the examples. You can see the whole blog only contains 3 outbound links with no content at all. The anchor text “Nursing”, “Exam Results” and “PRC Board Exam Results” are used to provide backlinks to his website.

In fact, he has a whole list of this kind of spammy blogs:

Google seems like not bothering about this method (judging the blog survives since Jan 2008).

Eventually, the ranking results for keyphrase is the proper blogger remains No 1, surprisingly the spammer ranks No.2

And, look at the spammer’s backlinks recognized by Google:

Is this method works? That’s what I plan to find out. Stay tune….

Q3. Once you have found the right product, what is the key phrase you want to rank high on major search engines?

My answer to Q1:
The right product must be able to solve problem(s).
Remember this, whenever someone uses internet, they are looking for information to solve a burning issue. And, they are hoping to get the information online and willing to pay if the info/product/method is proven to be able to solve their problem. Therefore, a good product must: (a) can solve a problem (b) you or someone can testify it works. 

My answer to Q2:
To find the right product, you must be able to find what is the problem someone wants to solve.

A quick way to find it is to use EzineArticles.com

EzineArticles.com contains a section where it features the Top 30 Most Viewed Articles of all time. Here you can see what is the information people is looking for.

For example, the top three articles are:
1. Free Reverse Cell Phone Lookup Websites – Do They Exist?
2. The Best Sexual Positions: The Top 5 Mistakes Most Guys Make

As such, you can understand why the Clickbank product “Reverse Phone Detective” has been the top product to promote.

In EzineArticles, you can also find the Most Viewed articles for the past 90 days underneath every articles. This will give you a good idea what are the hot topics around a certain niche.

The other way is to use 43things.com

Goto the www.43things.com and look under “Need Inspiration?” section, click on it and you will get to see the top 10 goals (or problems) that one urgently wants to solve. By the way, someone says goal is actually problem in disguise. Can’t agree more with that..

For Q3,  regarding what keyphrase to rank high for…

Just use Google keyword tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal 
Enter the website URL into the the Web Content section.

In this case, I use the EzineArticles URL (http://ezinearticles.com/?Free-Reverse-Cell-Phone-Lookup-Websites—Do-They-Exist?&id=638191) and you can see the number of keyphrase generated!

Summary, by using this method, you should be able to find quickly what are the real problem people wants to solve, find a product that solves these problems and use the right keywords to promote the products.

Yup, it is that simple. Don’t over “complexification” it. Let me know what you think ; )

First, you can get Keyword Research Pro (in short, I named it as KRP throughout this post) from this official page.

Today, I plan to promote some affiliate products related to gardening, so I open up my KRP and enter the keyword “gardening”.

However, what I will do differently today is I am not going to use its default setting, 150 keywords. Instead, I check all the search engines and increase the number of keywords limit to be 10,000!!

In less than 22 minutes, I found 10,000 keywords (in fact, it can goes beyond 10,000 keywords). I then export the list into .csv format. You can download the keyword list here in Excel format.

Ok, with 10,000 keywords, what next?

I am going to use the “Keyword Analyzer” function and look for high KEI value keywords with some Google Ads.

What is KEI?

Key Effectiveness Index (KEI) is the the ratio of the square of the searches upon a particular keyword in a day divided by the number of websites that are listed for that keyword.  (Source:http://www.web1marketing.com/glossary.php?term=KEI)

For example, a keyword that has 100 searches a day and for which Google shows 5000 websites would have a KEI of 2.

KEI = (100 * 100) / 5000 = 2

 

Therefore, the high KEI value means high volume of searches everyday but only few websites contain information for this search item.

Once you enlarge the picture above, you will see I highlighted the keyword “gardening desert” and “desert gardening”. This keyword is having a GComp value of 705, it means Google allintitle search for desert gardening is 710.

The KRP second parameter says Google Volume for “desert gardening” = 8100, it means if you search the Local Search Volume using Google Keyword Tools, the search number for month of June is 8100.

With this the KEI = 8100 * 8100 / 705 = 93063.83

The other criteria I am looking at is Google Ads for this search term. I will look for Ads (number of competitors) less than 20 to save on my PPC cost.

It appears there are only 16 Google Ads for desert gardening. Click on the link, KRP will then show you what are the 16 ads about:

You can see from here, KRP shows CPC broad data because people are bidding on Broad Search for desert garden which include hotel names. And, I have a quick comparison with Spyfu.com. The result is fair enough.

Next Step: Finding the Affiliate to promote

There is no easier to find affiliate program related to “desert gardening” than this.

Conclusion:

The only shortfall I see in KRP is it will not generate a warning message if you accidentally close the program. All your search results will be gone and I need to start all over again.

Overall, I enjoy the whole niche research process, for this case study on “Gardening”, it takes less than 40 minutes to complete. The results I generated are almost as accurate as if I do it manually extracting the data from Google search engines, Google Keyword Tools and Google Ads. Keyword Research Pro save my research time at least 1.5 hours per keyword! And, most importantly, this high search volume but low competition keyword will bring me some good affiliate income, I know, because I have paid off the cost of this tool just in 2 days time ; )

Additional Note:

1. In order to dominate the niche “desert gardening”, you need to know what is it about and what to write about. So, it is best to use the Google Wonder Wheel to generate some article ideas.

2. Once you have the keyword ideas, use AnswerAnalyst to generate quality articles to submit to article directories, Squidoo and Hubpages.
